SNAME’s
Cooperative Agreements Since the early 1990s the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) has recognized the importance of its international membership located in over 90 countries, and has taken conscious steps toward internationalization of the Society. Specifically, SNAME has reached out to open communication with like societies of naval architecture and/or marine engineering around the world both to foster an exchange of technical information and to cooperate in international conferences, symposia and collegia deemed to be of benefit to the members of both organizations. More specifically, in addition to an exchange of subscriptions to each others’ technical journals, a valid member in one society may purchase the books, journal subscriptions and registrations for technical conferences and symposia hosted by the other society at that society’s member rates. This culture of enhanced communication and exchange of technical information has been formalized with cooperative agreements. A list of organizations with which SNAME has executed international cooperative agreements, and a sample of a typical agreement, is provided. Similar
cooperative agreements have been executed with North American societies
and associations, and a list of these organizations is also provided. The
